Repco Authorised Service

                                                                            Welcome to Kay's Motoring Tips

Tyre Safety

  •  Safe tyre tread ... The minimum amount of tread, which provides a secure grip, is around 3.5mm - about the depth of a match-head, less than this may be unsafe.

  •  The wheels need balancing if the steering wheel starts shuddering.

  •  Check tyre pressure regularly. KATS offer a FREE “while you wait” tyre inspection and pressure check.

Holiday Tips

  •  A can of beer or soft drink, well shaken, can act as an emergency fire extinguisher.

  •  If tyre blow out this occurs, do not make sharp changes in direction, don't break or use the clutch. Ease up on the accelerator and if the blow-out was a front wheel, use the handbrake (gently) to gradually slow the vehicle.

  •  Car Sickness ... To avoid it, try sitting in the most 'stable' part of the vehicle. Don't move around too much, and look at the horizon, rather than at the road or trees.

General Maintenance

• Removing marks on cloth seats ... First try to absorb as much as possible. Sponge or spray with dry-cleaning fluid. Apply warm water and vinegar. Rinse with water. Keep repeating until the stain is gone. Blot dry.

What was that sound and what does it mean? ... Find out where those sounds are coming from and what is causing them before they cost you more money in repairs.

• It’s still very dangerous to remove the cap from a hot radiator as the coolant will be under pressure and the temperature will be well above boiling point. You should only check the coolant level when the engine is cold.

Save Petrol

  •  You use 25% less fuel at 90km/h than you do at 110km/h.

  •  Under-inflated tyres create drag and use more fuel.

  •  Have your car serviced at the recommended intervals. Dirty air filters and oil affect engine and fuel efficiency.
